Academic
Advising
The Faculty Development Committee is pleased to provide the following documents to
help faculty and staff deliver effective academic advising to undergraduate students
at the University of Dayton. These documents were revised in the Fall of 2002 by
a panel of faculty and administrators from across the entire campus. If you have
specific questions about advising issues that are not answered by these documents,
you should ask the chair or other person with advising responsibilities in your department.
Additional information about best-practices associated with Academic Advising can
be found on the Web. In particular the NACADA organization is a very important source
of information about advising. The Mentor is an on-line publication dedicated to
advising practices.
If you have questions or wish to make suggested changes to these documents, please
contact Lora Butcher, Faculty Development Coordinator, at lora.butcher@notes.udayton.edu or ext. 93309.
